Love Penang Run 2025: new ground, same spirit
THE MUCH-loved Love Penang Run is back, and this time, it is heading across the channel to Seberang Perai.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today officially announced the fourth edition of the event, which will be held on Nov 23 at Stadium Betek, Bukit Mertajam, featuring a 5km run for all ages and backgrounds.
The run is jointly organised by the Penang State government, Penang Forward Sports Club, and the Penang State Sports Council (MSNPP), continuing their collective effort to promote healthy living and community spirit among Penangites.
“Since its debut in 2022, the Love Penang Run has grown into an iconic annual event.
“It is more than just a run, it symbolises our love for the state, unity among the people, and commitment to community well-being,” Chow said during the press conference in Komtar today.
The event, which will be held in Bukit Mertajam, according to Chow, reflects the state’s vision of inclusive growth across both the island and the mainland.
“The choice of Bukit Mertajam is a perfect opportunity for participants to experience the uniqueness, diversity and vast potential of this town, which is increasingly becoming the heartbeat of Penang’s future development at the national level,” he added.
Aligned with Penang2030, Chow said the event embodies the state’s long-term goal of empowering the people and building a united, dynamic, and resilient society.
“The Penang government continues to prioritise sports and an active lifestyle as a key pillar in nurturing a healthy and thriving population,” he said.
This year, organisers are targeting 10,000 participants from both within and outside the state, a bold move that could make it one of the largest community sporting events in Malaysia, not just in scale but in its social impact.
“The Love Penang Run 2025 holds firm to its theme, to instil a sense of love and unity among the people, crossing boundaries and bringing Malaysians together, regardless of background,” Chow emphasised.
As a token of appreciation, Chow thanked all sponsors and partners who have stepped up to support the event.
In particular, he acknowledged Penang Forward Sports Club advisor Datuk Tom Khoo for sponsoring two cars as the top lucky draw prizes.
“Heartfelt thanks also go to all our sponsors, corporate partners and individuals who have contributed in various ways to make this event a reality,” he said.
In closing, Chow urged all Malaysians, Penangites especially, to come together and take part in this meaningful run.
Also present was Penang Forward Sports Club Datuk Lim Choo Hooi.
