Lydia Shum’s daughter on her 12-year death anniversary: “I imagine Hong Kong would need your magic now”

Readers of a certain vintage would remember Hong Kong comedian Lydia Shum.

With her dark-rimmed glasses and signature bouffant, Shum was one of the most well-loved comedians of her era.

Sadly, Shum passed away on Feb. 19 in 2008 due to liver cancer at the age of 62.

She left behind a daughter, Joyce Cheng, who is a singer.

Moving tribute on how life would be if Shum is still alive

On Feb. 19, Cheng wrote a poignant post on Instagram as a tribute to Shum.
