Chinese star Xiao Zhan, 33, was recently unveiled as the new spokesperson for electronics brand Honor.

Thanks to the actor’s popularity, the Chinese brand has seen an increase in sales for their smart devices.

The Xiao Zhan effect didn’t stop there. According to reports, his fans have been stealing standees of the actor from stores carrying Honor products.

This bad behaviour has sparked a new movement on Chinese social media called: “Protect Zhan’s Standees”, with his fans sharing other ways they can show their support for their idol. 

One person not part of this movement is this Malaysian woman who has gone viral on social media for taking the LRT in KL with a Xiao Zhan Honor standee. 

So super protective of her precious merch was she that when a man accidentally bumped into the standee, she dramatically ran after him and gave that poor gentleman a smack. Passengers and netizens were left shocked by her behaviour, with some saying they would have burst out laughing if they saw the woman in person. “Is this a new method of marketing?” quipped one. 

Now, there are definitely proper and legal ways to show support for your idol, and this is definitely not it.
