MACC arrests ex-manager for abuse of power

MELAKA: A former administrative manager of a Melaka government-linked company was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for allegedly abusing his position to recommend his wife for the firms fire insurance purchase.
The 44-year-old man was arrested around 2.15pm yesterday while giving his statement at the Melaka MACC office. He was brought to the Ayer Keroh magistrate's court today, where magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin allowed a two-day remand until tomorrow.
The MACC is investigating the case under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009. The suspect allegedly recommended his wife for the companys fire insurance purchase about four years ago.
Melaka MACC director Adi Supian Shafie confirmed the arrest.
