The job I got rejected for was a “graduate” level (2-3 years university) job while I have 2 master’s degrees…

I’ve been unemployed since April (my former employer went bankrupt), and as I can’t find any job a job that is related to my experience, I’m really looking for any job that I could be able to do.

I only worked for 2 years in my previous job, but I can’t find entry-level jobs for master’s degree owners, just positions for directors, managers, etc…

That’s why I decided to aim for graduate-level jobs. For the position in question, it was mainly office work. I did that in my previous work so I knew I could do it and that’s why I applied for it.

As I said, I got rejected.

I thought it was because the domain was scientific while I worked in a tourist field, but not at all: they estimated that “they couldn’t see what my motivation was to take a job for which I am too qualified”, “they’re afraid I would leave for a better job”, “it wouldn’t be motivating to photocopy pages for me, seeing my cv!”

I got rejected because they estimated that my motivation couldn’t be high as I’m over-qualified for the job. As if it was better to do nothing and wait for the providential job that’ll be perfect for my cv to appear…

It’s horrible to think that the fact that I succeeded in getting my diplomas is a minus for getting a job, it’s insane! I just want to have a job!

And the most horrible part is that I have an interview tomorrow for a similar level job, it’s hard to prepare for it without thinking that they’ll just say “meh, you can’t really be interested in our offer, look at your marvellous cv” 🙁

So would you have advice for me if that “problem” comes up tomorrow? How can I prove them that it isn’t because I have master’s degree that I look down on their offer?

(I tried for the other position but they just wouldn’t understand that for me any job is better than unemployment)
