This is kinda embarrassing but basically, my mum gave me $20k sgd to invest in Singapore stocks (for her) and bc of my past experience and greed I chose to do options and used risky tools.

I am at a lost and am seeking for options. I don’t want to tell my mum because she would be very angry and mad at me (although it’s 100% my fault) and probably kick me out of the house.

This is kinda tragic which is why I am thinking of earning back the money to repay her as soon as possible. what do you think I can do? I am also thinking of using the tuition loan to give her back the money.

what do you think?

Here are what netizens think:

Take the loss and try to make back the money first. Then invest again but safely and patiently this time. When you finally make back the principal, return it to your parents and tell them everything. Its a good lesson fee *trust me bro*. I racked up huge losses on my own as well and it hurts. Another option is to come clean and tell your parents and hope for the best. You have to predict how your parents will react before choosing these 2 options. Their reactions can impact you greatly so tread lightly.

Maybe you can go work in duck joint to earn the money fast, trust me no need very handsome one.

You go pray for 4 numbers loh, $4 big $4 small maybe got chance to take back.

Options trading and stocks can be gambling. There are important differences. The odds at a casino are fixed. The “odds” on the market are variable. The House ultimately must make a profit at the expense of the customer. Options and stocks can be a win-win scenario. Options and stocks are traded with – theoretically – full prior knowledge. Gambling by design hides information from you. So, in general, no, options trading is not gambling unless you make it that way. I don’t like options because of the complexity and need for a margin account. I just don’t have the resources.
