KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia-China Business Council chairman Senator Tan Sri Low Kian Chuan attended a series of government and business events in Nanning, Guangxi, during the 23rd China-Asean Expo and China-Asean Business and Investment Summit from Sept 16 to 18.

Low met government officials and business representatives from China and Asean countries to discuss trade, investment and regional cooperation.

The expo, which opened on Sept 17, was themed “CAFTA 3.0 Opportunities, Better Life”. It marked Timor-Leste’s first participation as a full Asean member and co-organiser, with all 11 Asean countries represented.

Low also attended the China-Asean Business Leaders Forum, where participants discussed opportunities under the China-Asean Free Trade Area 3.0 and cooperation in artificial intelligence.

At a maritime industry matchmaking conference under the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” framework, Low said improving transport links could strengthen logistics cooperation between Malaysia and China.

He cited the Pinglu Canal, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the East Coast Rail Link, which is scheduled to begin operations next year.

Low also attended a meeting hosted by Guangxi Communist Party secretary Chen Gang, which was attended by representatives of Chinese and Asean companies and business chambers.
