SHAH ALAM: Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, is scheduled to participate in the Emergency Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday (Aug 25) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Wisma Putra, in a statement on Saturday (Aug 23), said that the emergency meeting was held to discuss the latest situation regarding Israel's proposal to take over the entire territory of the Gaza Strip by force, in addition to the vision of expanding the territory of “Greater Israel”, which violates international law, reported Sinar Harian.

The issue of the construction of thousands of illegal settlements in the E1 area between Jerusalem and Ma'ale Adumim in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) was also on the main agenda of the discussion.

"He is also scheduled to hold a discussion with his counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting regarding joint efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza caused by the continued blockade of humanitarian aid by the Zionist regime of Israel.

"The Foreign Minister's participation in the Emergency Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is Malaysia's continued commitment in fighting for the rights of Palestine for an independent and sovereign state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital," said the statement.

The emergency meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers this time is seen as important in formulating the joint stance of Muslim member countries against Israel's continued actions, in addition to calling for immediate action by the international community to stop the oppression of Palestine.
