KUALA LUMPUR: Stricter immigration regulations, coupled with large-scale enforcement operations and widespread media coverage of arrests involving undocumented migrants, have led Malaysia to lose its position as the top destination for Indonesians seeking employment.
Indonesians are increasingly drawn to job opportunities in the blue-collar sector in countries such as Europe, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where less specialised skills are required.
