Versatile artiste Jaafar Onn passed away on Wednesday (April 3) morning. He was 73 years old.

He took his last breath at Sultan Idris Shah Serdang Hospital (Hospital Serdang). He was admitted to the emergency ward on Monday night.

The news of the actor's passing was confirmed by singer and close friend Haiza, who received the news from the late artiste's adopted son, known as Hanif.

"Yes, Jaafar Onn has passed away.

"I found out from the late artiste's adopted son, who was taking care of him at Hospital Serdang.

"I was informed about this around 11am earlier, and I am currently on my way there," she said when contacted by mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.

Jaafar, who was a dancer in his youth, once conducted dance class at Bangsar.

He was also active in many local television cooking programmes.

He had also acted in several local films including XX Ray, Sama Tak Serupa, Suami Isteri Dan..., Aku Nombor Satu, Tipah Tertipu The Movie and Kampung Latah The Movie.
