Malaysian mountaineer Hazlami's body airlifted to Kathmandu for post-mortem examination

PUTRAJAYA: The body of Malaysian mountaineer Hazlami Ahmad Nizam has been airlifted by helicopter from Lukla to its destination at the Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu today.

Sources from the Malaysian Diplomatic Representation Office (Malawakil) in Nepal confirmed the arrival at about 2pm local time for a thorough examination and necessary police documentation.

Authorities have disclosed plans for a post-mortem examination slated for tomorrow, with the hospital overseeing the procedure to determine the cause of Hazlami's untimely demise.

Emotion-filled moments ensued as the Malawakil and four Hazlami family members paid their respects to the fallen mountaineer at the hospital.

Those present to bid their farewell to Hazlami were his grieving wife, Nur Farhah Busyra Ismail, his father, Ahmad Nizam Damiri, his sister, Nur Liyana, and his cousin, Muhammad Mustapa Kamarudin.

Tragically, Hazlami Ahmad Nizam, a 33-year-old employee of Petronas Chemicals in Gebeng, Kuantan, Pahang, met his untimely end last Thursday, having reached High Camp at an imposing altitude of 5,700 meters above sea level.
