Man, 62, found dead in Sungai Muar after missing for two days

TANGKAK: A 62-year-old man who was believed to have fallen into Sungai Muar from Jambatan Panchor-Gerisik here on Thursday (July 17) has been found dead.
Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the body of Mesuan Sadiken was discovered at 10am on Friday (July 18), about 3km from the bridge, following a two-day search operation by rescue agencies.
“The victim’s body was found fully clothed and in good condition. He has been sent to Tangkak Hospital for a post-mortem.
“The missing persons report has now been reclassified as a sudden death, and investigations are ongoing,” he said in a statement.
He added that the victim’s child lodged a police report after suspecting the elderly man had fallen into the river.
“The victim had reportedly left home alone at 6am from Kampung Parit Tunggul, Kundang Ulu, wearing a short-sleeved checkered shirt and a blue kain pelikat.
“He was driving a Mazda CX-5 and later at about 7.50am, his daughter attempted to contact him, but the call was answered by a member of the public,” he said.
Supt Roslan added that the public informed the daughter that they had found the victim’s vehicle on the bridge, prompting her sibling to lodge a police report.
