Man Uses Hotel Kettle As Hotpot; Netizens Enraged

The next time you are on vacation, it is best to think twice about using the kettle in the hotel room to boil water for a cup of tea (even cabin crew pack their own portable kettles when they travel).

In an Instagram post, a man was caught using the hotel kettle as a makeshift hotpot, cooking raw meat and vegetables in the kettle for his meal, which was accompanied by cans of beer. There were also open packets of soup base from Haidilao on the table.

“We have everything. Beef, vegetables, more beef,” he exclaimed, as he flaunted the feast in the video, and in the process, revealed there was another kettle bubbling away.

It's not known which hotel this took place in.

“No wonder I always find the inside of kettles looking disgustingly yellow,” a netizen said.

Many other netizens pointed out that hotel kettles have long been misused for everything except boiling water.

Hotel staff and industry insiders also chimed in with their disturbing confessions in the comments section of the video.

“In Japan, drunk guests sometimes vomit into kettles,” one claimed.

Another revealed that urine had been found in kettles, with guests sheepishly admitting it was because the bathroom was not available.

Others recalled even nastier habits exposed during the COVID pandemic.

“People used to boil their underwear in the kettle to get it clean. Just never ever use one as long as you live,” a netizen warned.

Gross! All the more reason to pack atravel kettle for our next vacay.

However, not everyone in the comments section was turned off by the man's actions.

“It is kind of genius!” one person quipped.

“You mean before or after someone had used the kettle to boil their soiled underwear?” another commenter said in response.

Mic drop.
