Man charged with murder of girlfriend's 17-month-old baby girl

ALOR GAJAH: A fishing shop assistant was charged at the magistrate's court here today with the murder of his girlfriend's 17-month-old daughter two weeks ago.

Muhammad Isyraf Hifhzan Abdullah, 20, nodded in understanding after the court interpreter read out the charge before Magistrate Dr Teoh Shu Yee.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, Muhammad Isyraf Hifhzan is accused of committing murder by causing the death of Bunga Eleena Iman Rozaien at the third floor of a shop premises in Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang near here at about 9pm on July 6.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Deputy public prosecutor Fiqri Hakim Zamri did not offer bail and requested a new date pending the post-mortem report.

The court did not grant bail to the accused, who was unrepresented, and set Sept 23 for mention.

It was previously reported that a 17-month-old baby girl died, allegedly from abuse by her mother and her mother's boyfriend at a shop premises in Bandar Satelit Pulau Sebang here.

The couple had brought the unconscious child to Tampin Hospital for treatment, where doctors found signs of both internal and external injuries on the victim's body, and she was later confirmed dead.
