A man has transformed his garden fence on a budget, but not everybody is impressed with his efforts, with some criticising the 'super modern' vibe he was going for

It may feel like a distant dream at the minute, but many savvy people will be considering getting their gardenready for summerparties.

One man, who wasn't fond of his old fence, decided to give it a make-over in time for the warmer months - but he's had a mixed review. Dan Dow, who posts on TikTok as @the_dows, referred to his old fencing as "ugly", captioning his short clip: "Easy way to hide ugly fence panels with painted roof battens."

While many piled on the praise, saying how much better it looked, others dubbed the make-over as "Love Island Chic."

In the video, Dan can be seen replacing the old fence with "painted roof battens", and he said that they cost him "£40 per panel." Over the top of the video where Dan can be seen lining the pieces of wood up over the old fence, making it look completely different, he wrote: "Easy way to hide ugly fences. Came out pretty good!"

Some people were confused, saying it would've been "cheaper to just get a new fence", but Dan insisted that his option was budget-friendly. "There's nothing wrong with the original fences they look in great condition", someone else shared. One even penned: "Each to their own I suppose. Can't help but think the panels looked fine. Ultra-modern look in a garden just feels a bit 'Love Island Chic'."

Others had questions about where Dan sourced the wood from, and he told them his "local timber merchants", as some were shocked he managed to bag it as cheaply as he did. He said: "Trellis batten is the cheapest timber you can buy." He also clarified that he'd "painted them first" before applying them over the original fence.

Someone wrote: "Was going to write pointless. But then kept looking at it and yeah, I like it a lot for a simple fix and installation", with another praising: "£40 a panel is good as a fence is about that price. I'm going do this this summer now you've shown us how to do it." "Looks top that bro", a TikToker said.
