Man killed, two injured after gunmen open fire at Brickfields restaurant

KUALA LUMPUR: A man was killed and two others injured after they were shot while eating at a restaurant in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, here last night.
In the 10.50pm incident, the three men, aged between 30 and 50, were dining with several friends when the group was approached by two men on a motorcycle.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the two suspects then fired several shots at the group.
"One of the victims succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene from gunshot wounds.

"His body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for a post-mortem examination.
"The other two victims are receiving treatment at UMMC. One sustained serious injuries while the other suffered minor wounds," he said when met at the scene early this morning.
Ku Mashariman said further investigations are underway, including a review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to determine the motive and identify the suspects involved.
"We are confident of identifying the suspects soon."
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Ku Mashariman also urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the police or visit the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
