Man tries to pour a can of Coca-Cola in Antarctica and it doesn’t end well
People have been left in stitches after a man living in Antarctica shared what happened when he tried to pour himself a glass of Coca-Cola.
Now, if anyone's been planning on having a change of scenery recently or upping sticks and moving somewhere else completely, Antarctica isn't likely to be at the top of your list.
However, for Antarctic construction and project management expert Matty Jordan, it sort of comes with the job.
Living in Scott Base, Matty uses his social mediato give a glimpse into what life's like at the New Zealand research station, including what happens when you try and kick back and relax with a can of Coca-Cola.
I can't say a nice, refreshing and cold can of Coca-Cola would be what I'd choose to drink if I was in -57°c conditions, but served at an icy temperature is the correct way to enjoy the fizzy drink after all.
Matty attempted to crack one open and pour it out into a cup while facing winds of 12 knots, and miles below freezing temperatures.
His captionreads: "When it’s -57°c outside, this is the only thing that makes sense.
"We’ve have the coldest ambient temperatures that we’ve had all year, with the evening reaching -40°c. Add in 12 knots of wind and we’re dealing with -57°c.
"This was far more challenging than I thought it would be but I was inspired to recreate this Coke pouring into a glass after seeing @thejeffcapps video from the South Pole. Another evening of fun in the cold."
As you may have predicted, Matty didn't have the pleasure of ever having the Coca-Cola reach his lips - the iconic drink having frozen as he was pouring it, leaving it looking like some sort of art sculpture in an edgy gallery, on sale for a ridiculous amount of money.
In the video Matty says: "I tried to pour a can of coke. And it didn't go so well."
The Antarctic construction expert's video has caused fits of giggles among his followers.
Flooding to the post much quicker than the Coca-Cola flowed out of Matty's can, one user said: "I'd like to have some ice cubes in my coke, please."
"Museum of Modern Art coming up with world tour of your exhibits…" Another joked.
A third channeling a similar level of confusion as me - commented: "why do you feel need to sip colas and eat ice creams in this kind of weather? Just curious so asking."
And a final added: "Give a whole new meaning to an icecold glass of Coke."
