Martha Stewart Says This Quick & Easy Pancake Recipe Has Been One of Her ‘Most Popular for Years’ & It Only Takes 5 Minutes to Prep
There’s nothing better than fluffy, buttery pancakes in the morning. They are a breakfast staple for a reason! If you’ve been looking for a simple yet delicious pancake recipe, Martha Stewart just shared one of her most popular ones — with a batter you can whip up in 5 minutes.
“This surprisingly quick and easy pancake recipe has been our most popular for years—and with good reason,” Stewart wrote on Instagram yesterday. “You’ll only need a handful of basic fridge and pantry ingredients like all-purpose flour, sugar, eggs, butter, and milk, and pulling together the simple batter takes just five minutes.”
In the recipe, Stewart shares a few insider tips to make the pancakes fluffier than ever. First, make sure your ingredients are fresh (there’s nothing like expired baking powder to ruin a recipe!). Next, when you combine your wet and dry ingredients, don’t overmix; only whisk until there are no dry spots of flour. Mixing too much can actually make the pancakes tougher.
Other tips including letting the pancake batter “rest” for about 10 minutes to “allow the leaveners [in the batter] to continue to work their magic, creating and expanding into thousands of tiny pockets of carbon dioxide.” This is a great time to make a pot of coffee!
Next, make sure the griddle is fully hot before putting the first pancake on. Flip once one side is brown and there are several bubbles on the surface (about 2 minutes). But don’t press down on the pancake once it’s flipped — “this will result in a dense, gummy pancake,” Stewart said. The second side should only take about one minute to finish cooking. When it’s done, transfer the cooked pancake to a platter in a warm oven to keep them warm until all the pancakes are done.
Finally, serve with all the toppings your heart desires! Butter, maple syrup, confectioners’ sugar, honey, jams, preserves, sweetened whip cream, or chocolate syrup are all suggestions the lifestyle guru gives, but we also loves ours with mini chocolate chips and fruit like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or bananas.
This is a tried-and-true pancake recipe for many people. In the comments, one person shared how much they loved the recipe, with one small tweak. “the easiest and most delicious recipe!!” they wrote. “I’ve been loyal to it for 5 years now. However I always add a splash of vanilla extract to enhance the flavour.”
Someone else shared, “I’ve been making these pancakes for over 5 years. They are super easy to make and give light, low sugar pancakes with the perfect thickness for us. My daughter loves them!” Another person praised, “I make these for my family all the time! Theres are 100% the best!”
And if you want to serve more than just pancakes, Stewart has tons of easy breakfast ideas that can go with it, like broccoli cheddar quiche and blender orange juice. Because nobody has time (or patience!) for a complicated recipe in the morning.
