A 35-year-old man in Guangzhou, China, was arrested after allegedly attacking pedestrians and stabbing a woman in the face at a local mall on Monday (Sept 14).

The attack reportedly occurred at Gogo Xintiandi mall in Guangzhou University City.

In a statement on Monday, the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau's Panyu branch said they received a report at around 5.20pm about multiple stabbings outside a hotpot restaurant at Xiaoguwei Island.

Police were dispatched to the scene and all injured individuals were sent to the hospital for treatment.

None of the injured individuals are in life-threatening conditions after receiving treatment, the bureau added.

The suspect, whose surname is Li, was arrested at the scene. The case is under investigation.

Videos of the incident circulating online show the masked attacker walking outside the store before stabbing a woman in the face with a knife and fleeing.

The woman is also seen throwing the weapon onto the ground and clutching her face in pain.

Other graphic videos shared show another woman outdoors with a knife in the face. The woman, wearing a bloodstained shirt, was crying for help.

Another victim is also seen sitting on the blood-splattered floor of the mall while passers-by provided assistance.
