PETALING JAYA: Karate exponents C. Shahmalarani and Kaliana Sundram Thevendran showed there is hope for Malaysia to deliver gold at the Asian Games in Nagoya next year after making the podium in their respective categories at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, yesterday.

Mathematics teacher and book author Shahmalarani was the toast of the Malaysian karate team after she contributed silver in the women’s below 50kg kumite.
