Mentally unstable man nabbed after brandishing sharp object

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A mentally unstable man, believed to be a Myanmar, was subdued by firefighters after he was found unclothed and wielding a sharp object in an aggressive manner in front of a restaurant in Jalan Kubang Semang here today.
State Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director John Sagun Francis said they received a call from the police at 4.46pm, requesting assistance to apprehend the individual.
"When we arrived at the scene, we saw the man, estimated to be in his 30s, who appeared to be mentally disturbed and holding a sharp object.
"Firefighters used a water spray from the fire engine pump to subdue him safely," he said in a statement.

He said the man was subsequently handed over to police for further action.
No injuries were reported.
