PUTRAJAYA: The notification of a cosmetic product, ZMY Magnetic Aura Night Cream, which contains mercury, has been revoked and is no longer allowed to be sold in Malaysia.

National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) director Rosilawati Ahmad, in a statement today, said mercury is prohibited in cosmetic products because it can damage the kidneys and nervous system, interfere with the development of a child's or fetus's brain, and cause rashes and skin irritation.
