KUCHING (June 19): Up-and-coming swimmer Ryan Liaw Chee Heng will represent Malaysia at the 47th South East Asia (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships in Singapore from June 25-27.
The 15-year-old student from Riam Hill International Secondary School in Miri has once again qualified to compete at the regional meet.
He will take part in three breaststroke events — 50m, 100m, and 200m — with the 50m being his strongest and most competitive.
This marks Ryan’s second consecutive appearance at the prestigious regional meet, following his debut last year at the 46th SEA Age Group Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
Ryan began competitive swimming at the age of nine. Under the guidance of coach David Chung from Top Speed Aquatic Swimming Club, he has won numerous medals at local, state, and national-level competitions over the years.
Through swimming, Ryan has embraced the values of discipline and perseverance in the pursuit of his goals.
Representing Malaysia for the second time is a proud milestone for Ryan, who is looking forward to deliver his best performance and make the country proud.
