Missing Thai fisherman found safe near Pulau Tioman

MERSING: A Thai fisherman reported missing two days ago was found safe by local fishermen near Pulau Tioman this morning.
The foreigner, identified as 33-year-old Wasan Thamuangnly, had gone to sea alone on Tuesday aboard a fishing vessel and lost contact about 4.4 nautical miles east of Pulau Pemanggil, here.
Johor Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency acting director maritime Captain Kama Azri Kamil, who confirmed the incident, said the fishermen spotted the victim at 8.40am.
He was brought to the Endau Fisheries jetty, where his identity was confirmed by the vessel owner.
A Thai interpreter was also brought in to assist with the interview, he said in a statement today.
