When you’re in the studio making music, what’s the most useful tech for you?

When I was working on my album Reprise [a collection of hits re-recorded with a full orchestra], it was a great microphone. One of my favourites is the Shure SM57. It’s the least expensive, least fancy microphone I have but it’s remarkably good at certain things and I love the nostalgia of it.
