More than 150 e-bikes and other non-compliant mobility devices impounded in last 2 months: LTA
The Straits Times - Singapore·2025-07-11 16:00
SINGAPORE - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on July 11 said it had detected 232 active mobility offences and impounded 151 non-compliant devices during islandwide enforcement operations in the last two months.
In a Facebook post, the authority said it worked with officers from Marina Bay, Punggol and Geylang neighbourhood police centres to target large group gatherings of users over the June school holidays.
The offences include the use of power-assisted bicycles - or e-bikes - with improper or missing registration plates, keeping or riding illegally modified e-bikes and riding bicycles without working handbrakes, it added.
First-time offenders caught using improper or obscured e-bike number plates may face a fine of up to $1,000, a jail term of three months, or both.
Those who use non-compliant devices on paths may be fined up to $10,000, jailed for six months, or both.
