Motorcyclist killed in accident with lorry on BKE, 6 others hurt in 2 other motorcycle-related accidents

A motorcyclist died, while four others who were on motorcycles were taken to the hospital in three separate accidents on Dec 16 and 17.
On Dec 16, a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after an accident involving his motorcycle and a lorry on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE).
Responding to queries, the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident on the expressway in the direction towards Woodlands, near the Kranji Expressway exit at about 8pm.
A 25-year-old male lorry driver is assisting with investigations.
In another accident on Dec 16, a 39-year-old male motorcyclist and his 41-year-old male pillion rider were conscious when taken to Raffles Hospital after an accident involving a pedestrian at the junction of Nicoll Highway and Bras Basah Road.
The police and SCDF were alerted to the accident at about 4.15pm.
A 41-year-old male pedestrian suffered minor injuries and declined to be taken to hospital.
On Dec 17, a 31-year-old male motorcyclist and his 29-year-old female pillion rider were conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, following an accident involving a car and two motorcycles near the Woodlands Checkpoint.
The police and SCDF were alerted around 7am.
Another 31-year-old male motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital.
A 45-year-old male car driver is assisting with investigations.
There were 68 motorcyclist and pillion rider fatalities in 2023, equivalent to half of all deaths in road accidents that year, according to figures issued by the police.
In 2023, 4,290 motorcycle and pillion riders were injured in accidents, which means almost 12 people were involved in motorcycle-related accidents each day.
