STORY: Multiple people were killed and a number of others injured in Vancouver

after a vehicle was driven into a crowd at a Filipino street festival on Saturday evening.

Police said they had arrested a 30-year-old local man at the scene, and that he was "known" to them.

Here's the city's interim police chief Steve Rai.

''That male was taken into custody at the scene by the crowd. It was a Filipino community event. The crowd immediately called police. We then took custody of the subject, and he is now in our custody being held."
