Model Kirsty Grabham, 24,, was savagely killed by her husband at their Swansea home in 2009, then her body was stuffed in a suitcase and dumped from a car on the M4

A mum has told of her torment as she imagined her daughter’s final thoughts as she was savagely murdered and stuffed in a suitcase by her husband.

Kirsty Grabham, a 24-year-old model, was savagely killed at their home in Swanseafollowing a night out. Paul Grabham tried to cut her in half, before he put her body in a suitcase and threw it from a moving car on the M4, near Bridgend. Her remains were found 10 days later and police found that her body was “still warm” when she was put in the bag, meaning she may still have been alive.

And this possibility continues to go through the head of Kirsty’s mum Cathy Broomfield 15 years on from the murder. She said how she imagines her daughter being grabbed like a “ragdoll” and being beaten up before being “shoved” into a suitcase.

The couple were last seen together having a row during a night out in Swansea. Grabham is thought to have killed his wife as she arrived home after him, battering and strangling her to death in the flat.

He was later tried at Swansea Crown Court where he denied murder but was convicted and jailed for a minimum of 19 years. Now Cathy has spoken on the documentary The Suitcase Murders, available on discovery+, about what happened. "To know she didn't die instantly is such a kick in the teeth. It really, really is,” she said, as reported by The Sun.

"I can just imagine him grabbing her like a ragdoll because of the size of her to him - he must have been bouncing her off the walls and kicking her and punching her and breaking her nose and her jaw then shoving her in that suitcase." Cathy added: "She really did not deserve that, nobody does.

"All I can think about is her screaming for me as she's being murdered: 'Mum where are you? You're not looking after me now. Why are you not here?' What was she thinking when she was being battered to death?"

The couple had only been married for four months when Kirsty was murdered and in a diary written by the victim she wrote of a previous incident where Grabham went “mad”. She wrote: "Paul, I don't know why you went mad tonight for no reason whatsoever you just went mental and flew off the handle. I was sitting here on the edge of the sofa wondering what you're going to do next."

Three days after her death, Grabham visited the police to say she was missing but detectives found out that there had been a row on March 27, 2009 - the night while they were out in Swansea - and uncovered a history of domestic abuse.

Grabham was arrested on suspicion of murder on April 4 and a search of their home led to the discovery of blood on the walls and ceiling that had been painted over. Then a lorry driver made the grim discovery of her body in a suitcase on the M4.
