Mystery as 'meteor' crashes into Earth as massive explosion heard in Italy
A mysterious seismic "sonic boom" explosion that could be heard for 60 miles across the Mediterranean is thought to have been caused by an out-of-this-world reason.
Residents on the Italian island of Elba off the coast of Tuscany and locals 100km away on the French island of Corsica both reported the huge 'acoustic and seismic' event around 2.30pm on Thursday.
