NRECC soft launches Malaysia Pavilion for COP28
KUALA LUMPUR: The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) ministry has soft launched Malaysia's Pavilion for the participation in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP 28).
NRECC minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad who officiated the Pavilion said it was not just a physical structure but a clear demonstration of Malaysia's commitment and hard work in addressing climate change.
"It will embody the spirit of collaboration, which is a crucial aspect of Malaysian culture, highlighting that we need and are coming together as a nation, in recognising that the battle against climate change requires a collective response.
"The critical topics and issues that will be showcased at the Malaysia Pavilion at COP28 include the just energy transition, mitigation, adaptation, and sustainable finance," he said in his speech at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, here, today.

The launch was part of the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) organised by NRECC and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), which opened doors to businesses today.
Nik Nazmi hoped that the pavillion would serve as a catalyst for fruitful discussions and collaborative efforts towards a more sustainable and resilient future, as well as showcasing stories and narrative on climate change.
He added that Malaysia's efforts at addressing climate change would continue long after the conference was over.
IGEM is a three-day programme beginning today, exhibiting some 400 exhibitions with a target of RM4 billion in business leads and 40,000 visitors from over 40 countries.
