Popular South Korean reality survival show BOYS PLANET is back with a second season, BOYS II PLANET.

The show will first kick off with its 154 contestants divided into two groups, Boys II Planet K, which is made up of trainees from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and other countries, and Boys II Planet C for Chinese contestants. 

Both groups will be combined later on in the competition, with the top trainees debuting as an idol group.

Of all the 74 hopefuls in Boys II Planet C, one has caught the attention of the internet. 

22-year-old Deng Jiajun, aka contestant number 148, has been revealed to be the nephew of late Taiwanese singing legend, Teresa Teng. 

Jiajun is one of the nine Taiwanese contestants taking part in the show. 

Jiajun’s dad is Jim Teng, Teresa’s younger brother. 

Jiajun, who is 1.8m-tall, used to work as service staff at a luxury boutique. 

When approached by Taiwanese media, Teresa’s older brother Frank Teng, who serves as chairman of the Deng Lijun Foundation, said: “Yes, Jiajun is my younger brother Deng Changxi’s son. He joined the competition for fun and because it's his interest. [We’re] thankful for the attention he’s received.”

Teresa was the only daughter. She had three older brothers and one younger brother. According to reports, Jim Teng died unexpectedly in 2008 from an aneurysm in Shanghai. He was 55. 

Boys II Planet K will air on July 17, and Boys II Planet C will premiere on July 18.
