Wellington– For years, I have technically been a rule-breaker in my children’s education.

Every year, I have taken my three children – aged between 11 and 15 – out of school in New Zealand for as long as four weeks at a time to visit family in France and Singapore, always with the school’s knowledge, usually with its blessing, and until recently, without much hesitation.
