Nike is blending part sneaker with dress shoe for its next Women’s release, the Nike W Air Max Phenomena.

Created alongside the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC), the Nike Air Max Phenomena is part loafer, part Air Max trainer with its Air Max SNDR sole unit that’s matched with uppers made for the office.

Arriving in a black colourway for an initial drop, the premium leather uppers of the Nike Phenomena have this lush pebbled texture, and looking at it almost takes you back to the wing tips, where you don’t know if it’s a resole or a limited drop.

These do coincide with the more recent mule and loafer trend that many footwear brands are coming out with, but for some reason, it’s a bit more natural with Nike. This could be because they’ve done more dressier takes in the ’90s, it could be that their golf line has some similar silhouettes, or maybe because they opted for a mini Swoosh at the saddle. It’s just the right amount of business-but-casual.

The Nike Air Max Phenomena is finished with a heel loop, tonal piping, and a colourful insole. Priced at $155, these drop on June 27 at stockists like atmos and select sneaker shops. Now, if only they made Men’s sizes.
