ALOR SETAR: The top five positions in PAS — president, deputy president, and three vice presidents — will be uncontested in the upcoming party polls, says Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

The PAS secretary-general said that all current officeholders successfully retained their positions after the nomination period closed, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reported.

He confirmed that, officially, the 2025-2027 PAS line-up will see Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang continuing as president, alongside deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, and vice-presidents Datuk Idris Ahmad, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, and Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

“Initially, there were four nominations for the vice-president positions, but only three confirmed after the nomination deadline.

“This means all incumbents won uncontested after Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor declined the nomination,” Takiyuddin told Sinar Harian during a press conference at the Kedah PAS Complex in Kota Sarang Semut on Saturday (Aug 30).

In addition to the party's top leadership, Takiyuddin announced that the leadership of the PAS Youth wing, Women's wing, and Ulama wing also remained unchanged, with their respective chiefs, deputies, and vice-chiefs positions winning unopposed.

“The Ulama Wing, led by Kedah PAS commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yahya, also remains without contest, including 12 committee members selected unopposed.

“Candidates contesting for the PAS central working committee total 30 for 18 seats, while the Youth wing has 20 candidates for 12 seats, and the Women's wing has 16 candidates for 12 seats,” he added.

Takiyuddin emphasised that the party's stability allows PAS to focus on preparations for the 16th General Election (GE16) and the development of states under its administration, namely Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

“We are grateful that PAS is a stable party. Our main focus is the unity of the ummah and the Malaysian people.

“We invite all political party leaders, including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the presidents of parties aligned with us, to join in advancing the unity agenda,” he told Sinar Harian.

Takiyuddin announced that the 71st PAS central annual assembly is scheduled for Sept 15 and 16, involving 4,200 delegates from across the country.

The 66th PAS Youth wing Assembly will be held on Sept 11 and 12, followed by the 65th PAS women's wing Assembly on Sept 13 at the Kedah PAS Complex.

Subsequently, the annual Ulama wing assembly will be held at Darul Hadis Tok Keling on Sept 13.

Meanwhile, the PAS Supporters Assembly (DHPP) convention will take place at Gandhi Hall in Sungai Petani, and the Assabiqun convention will be held at Al-Akhlaq Al-Islamiyah Primary School in Guar Chempedak on Sept 13, Sinar Harian reported.
