Nurul Izzah: Male MPs should be allowed to wear batik in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: Male members of parliament should be allowed to wear local batik while attending parliamentary sessions as a way to uphold the nation’s heritage, says Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.
She said this would boost awareness of local batik.
The matter was raised by Nurul Izzah in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, when she asked Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik about efforts to promote the wearing of batik in Malaysia, especially in Parliament.
