Olivia Munn Wedding Details Revealed After Her Shade Towards Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez’s $48M Event
Olivia Munn isn’t shy about sharing her opinions about Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s opulent lifestyle, but is there any hypocrisy in her comments? Well, see for yourself.
Munn made headlines back in April when she criticized Bezos’ company, Blue Origin, over their star-studded all-female space flight, which Sánchez led. Now, the Your Friends & Neighbors star is being accused of shading the couple once again amid their highly criticized Venice wedding.
On Saturday, the day after Bezos and Sánchez tied the knot, Munn reacted to Mia Farrow’s pointed Instagram post praising the Amazon founder’s ex-wife, Mackenzie Scott. “How awesome is MacKenzie Scott! ( jeff Bezos first wife & mother of his 4 children),” Farrow’s post read. “As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations.”
44-year-old Munn commented, “Truly incredible.” Bezos and Sánchez have been criticized for their wedding, which reportedly cost upwards of $48 million, all while Amazon staff continue to speak out about low wages and terrible working conditions.
Now, in the celebrity world, sometimes stars shading at another celeb’s way of life can come off a little hypocritical, but it seems like this isn’t a case of people in glass houses throwing stones.
Munn married husband John Mulaney, with whom she shares two kids, in July 2024, and we know shockingly little about their low-key affair, especially in comparison to Bezos and Sánchez’s event. The couple, who have been together since 2021, got married in a private event held in a friend’s New York home. Their son, Malcom, was a witness, and Munn’s Newsroom co-star Sam Waterston served as their officiant.
Comparatively, Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding, which sparked protests in Venice, was attended by stars like Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, and many more.
Ahead of the Blue Origin flight, Munn made it clear that she wasn’t too fond of the Amazon founder and his now-wife during an appearance on Today with Jenna and Friends, per CNN. “I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now… What are you guys gonna do up in space? What are you doing up there?”
“I know this is probably obnoxious, but, like, it’s so much money to go to space, and there’s a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs,” Munn argued.
“I think it’s a bit gluttonous. Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?” Munn also wondered, questioning whether “all that rocket fuel is good” for the environment.
