Everyone knows about AI now, but most people's experience of a smart chatbot like ChatGPT is limited to tapping an app on the screen, and ordinary users have little or no idea of the vast data warehouses and super-fast processing chips needed to make the complex system work, nor the huge amounts of power needed to run these machines. OpenAI, as a brand leader, is completely aware, and knows that next-generation AIs will need even bigger and more resource-hungry facilities. So it's been on a crusade to raise the issue with a potential source of substantial help: the White House.
