OpenAI is reportedly nearing a US$500 billion valuation, which could make it the most valuable private company globally, surpassing SpaceX and ByteDance.

The company is said to be involved in two deals: a SoftBank-led round valuing OpenAI at US$300 billion, expected to close by the end of the year, and a secondary sale of employee shares at the higher US$500 billion figure.

Most shares at the lower valuation have been purchased, with remaining investors now focusing on the higher-priced shares.

OpenAI’s projected annual revenue reportedly doubled to US$12 billion in the first seven months of 2025, with about 5 million paying business users.
