OpenAI said on August 21 that it would cut GPT-5.6 Sol prices for developers by more than 20% for the next three months on its application programming interface (API).

The lower pricing is also rolling out to eligible credit plans for ChatGPT Work, its agentic AI product, and Codex, its coding tool.

For standard short-context use, GPT-5.6 Sol now costs US$4 per 1 million input tokens and US$20 per 1 million output tokens, down from US$5 and US$30, respectively.

OpenAI said pricing for its Pro, Plus, and Business subscriptions remains unchanged.

The company also cut prices late last month for two smaller models: the mid-tier GPT-5.6 Terra by 20% and the lower-cost Luna by 80%.
