Oh boy I’ve been holding onto this one for a while and I’m excited to finally be writing it.

I’ve written before about bot scams on social media that comment on popular posts, or reply to popular comments. There are a bunch of different types. Some pretend to be a flirtatious woman trying to seduce the commenter, some claim they have a guru that changed their life and sometimes they are as simple as “(Name) how are you doing today?” give or take the proper punctuation.

Well about a month ago I noticed a Facebook comment on some throwaway meme post. The guy said something about Chuck Norris fighting zombies. A bot commented the “how are you today,” but what killed me is that a second bot commented on the first bot, again with the “how are you doing today.”

Since then I’ve been noticing that happening more and more. Bots replying to other bots trying to scam each other. I got quite the kick out of it. I’m waiting for the four-leaf clover of three or more bots replying to one another.

Most of the scams people run are disgusting and I’d hate to make light of people suffering because of the greed of others, but that said, it’s important to laugh at just how incompetent some of the scam methods can be, especially when the scammer is too lazy to do any work themselves so they create bots to do it for them.

What a waste of intelligence. If you can be savvy enough to have robot social media accounts work for you, I’d bet you could put that brain to better uses for humanity.
