OutDaughtered’s Adam and Danielle Busby Address Backlash Over Moving With Their Quintuplets
The Busby family is busy starting fresh.
Adam Busby and Danielle Busby recently shared that they shut down their business and uprooted their family including 10-year-old quintuplets Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker and Blayke, 14, to a new town 30 minutes away for the new school year.
The duo explained their decision to relocate from League City to Friendswood, Texas, despite backlash from fans on social media.
“God is removing us from right here in this space and he’s calling us into this other area because it’s a smaller community,” Adam said on the July 19 episode of his and Danielle’s More Than Reality podcast. “It’s a tight knit community. It’s a place where we feel like God wants us to raise our children. To live a more intentional life with our children and in a better more suited environment for that.”
Despite their children’s disappointment and sadness amid the move, Danielle explained that she and her husband did what’s best.
“And it think it’s okay,” Danielle said. “Even though it’s hard for the kids to kind of accept that. When you tell them we’re gonna sell that house and move, they’re like, ‘Hold up, that’s not what we want.’ But you have to make hard decisions because we have to do what we feel is best for the family.”
Two months after their move and a week into the school year, and Danielle and Adam’s daughters are already adjusting to the transition.
“Above all I’ve been very very proud of how they’ve all responded and adjusted,” she shared on the Aug. 21 episode of their podcast. “Especially Blayke. Going into high school. It’s scary overall.”
The pair explained that the teen was able to adjust after making the tennis team which gave her a community going into the school year.
“That was a huge confidence boost for her knowing that she’s coming into this new school, she’s already on the tennis team,” Adam said. “She’s already made friends within the tennis team but also made friends through their friends.”
As for Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker , they were able to adjust with the security of each other.
“We know going into it that they’re always gonna have a sister in their class or two,” Adam shared. “So, I haven’t been that concerned with them. Even if they feel a little left out or withdrawn, they’ll always have their sister by their side.”
As for Riley, the transition has been a bit more difficult with her anxiety.
“She stayed home today, cause we were up all night. Lots of tears, lots of comforting, lots of praying, holding hands,” Danielle said. “It’s hard to have these feelings of you can’t fix that. Usually when we’ve seen Riley with that struggle, literally it’s a one day thing, but this one’s different.
And while they navigate their daughter’s struggles, Adam and Danielle remain optimistic.
“It will pass,” Danielle said. “We will get stronger, and we will grow, and we will learn to use our tools, and it just might take a little time.”
