A 20-year-old university student in Cyberjaya was brutally murdered at a condominium on Tuesday (June 24), and the perpetrators took away her belongings. Shortly after her murder, 6 transactions were made using her ATM card.

PDRM confirmed that 3 suspects – a man and two women aged 19 and 20 have been arrested, 48 hours after a police report about the matter was lodged.

Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman, stated that the arrests were made in Johor Bahru and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, between 9:00 AM yesterday (June 26) and 2:00 AM today (June 27). The police will be applying for a remand from the Sepang Sessions Court on all suspects to assist in the investigation, which is conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, reported Utusan and Sinar Harian.

PDRM also believed that all 3 suspects personally knew the victim, Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, who hailed from Sarawak.

Earlier, Maniishapriet was found dead in her condo unit, and police cited blunt force trauma to her head as the cause of death, and confirmed that there were no signs of sexual assault.

In the meantime, the Minister of Youth & Sports, Hannah Yeoh, also expressed her condolences to Maniishapriet’s family members, calling it a “heartbreaking tragedy.” Hannah also urged the police to investigate the matter, as posted on her Facebook.
