Pakistani e-ticketing platform Bookme eyes $20m revenue in Saudi
Pakistani eticketing platform Bookme expects to generate US$20 million in annual revenue from its operations in Saudi Arabia, according to CEO Faizan Aslam.
Bookme entered the Saudi market through a partnership with Mrsool and the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA).
The partnership with Mrsool, valued at US$5 million annually, is set to launch by the end of July.
Bookme is also seeking agreements with Saudi banks and fintech companies, with some contracts pending regulatory approval.
Founded in 2013, Bookme provides cashless e-ticketing services for travel, hotels, cinemas, and events.
The company plans to expand into the Middle East and Africa after entering the Saudi Arabian market in 2024.

Bookme’s Saudi expansion highlights the strategic value of the Kingdom’s rapidly growing digital ticketing sector.
The Saudi smart ticketing market is projected to grow from $203.25 million in 2024 to $452.50 million by 2033, representing a 9.30% CAGR and offering substantial growth opportunities1.
This expansion aligns with broader global trends, as online travel bookings are growing at twice the rate of the overall market, signaling a significant shift toward digital platforms2.
Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiatives are accelerating digital transformation through substantial investments in entertainment and transportation infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for ticketing platforms3.
Mobile app-based ticketing is gaining particular traction in the region, supported by high smartphone penetration and improved internet access, matching Bookme’s technical capabilities1.
Bookme’s approach of entering Saudi Arabia through partnerships with established local players like Mrsool and flyadeal demonstrates a strategic approach to international expansion.
The company’s careful selection of partners across different sectors (delivery, airline, banks) creates multiple revenue streams and distribution channels rather than relying on a single market entry point4.
This partnership strategy is particularly important in Saudi Arabia, where 72% of businesses cite lack of clear strategic planning as a major barrier to digital transformation, making local expertise valuable5.
For Bookme, leveraging Mrsool’s established user base provides immediate access to millions of potential customers without the high customer acquisition costs typically associated with entering new markets.
Bookme’s diversification from its initial bus ticketing focus to a comprehensive platform offering flights, hotels, and events follows a pattern seen across successful digital platforms.
The global e-ticketing system market is projected to grow from approximately $10 billion in 2023 to around $30 billion by 2032, with integrated platforms capturing larger market shares than single-service providers6.
This expansion into multiple verticals helps platforms like Bookme achieve greater customer lifetime value, as evidenced by competitors in Pakistan’s $3 billion travel market who have similarly broadened their service offerings7.
Integration of advanced technologies like AI for personalized recommendations and blockchain for secure transactions is becoming standard in leading ticketing platforms, enhancing user experiences and creating competitive advantages16.
For Bookme, the ability to cross-sell multiple services to its 14 million Pakistani users provides a strong foundation for its Saudi expansion, where it can apply the same diversified service model to new customer segments.
