A 16-year-old boy was allegedly forced to live in an outside shed for months by his parents - and had to use leaves as toilet paper.

Grace Sensenig, 42, and Daryl Sensenig, 41, were arrested by police after they allegedly forced their son to live in a wooden shed due to "inappropriate behaviours."

Officers were called to their home in Pennsylvania after reports of a domestic incident. Police said the dad had tackled the boy and "had a pressure point applied to the victim's neck" following an argument.

A further investigation found the boy was forced to live in a shed 100 yards away from their home since mid-March, after returning from a boy's camp.It comes as a seven-year-old Troy Koehler was tragically discovered crammed dead inside a washing machine.

The child was only allowed to shower inside the home once a week and given access to water through a hose outside. It was also alleged he was forced to defecate in the woods and had to use leaves as toilet roll, according to police.

Furthermore, he was also told to pay for any food he ate using money from his part-time job.

The boy was taken into the protection of extended family. His parents were taken into custody and face charges of endangering the welfare of children. The couple was released on a £20,000 bond.

It comes as an adoptive dad has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after his seven-year-old son was found dead inside a washing machine.

Troy Koehler was tragically discovered crammed inside a washing machine on July 28, 2022, at their family home in Spring, Texas. Jermaine Thomas had reported Troy missing, and hours later, officers discovered the child's body in the washing machine, fully clothed.

“Now, we will never know what he could have become,” his former teacher, Sheryl Reed, said during the sentencing. “His future, his dreams, his life–were stolen by someone who was supposed to love, protect, and nurture him.

According to the post-mortem examination, Troy had sustained fresh and historic injuries, but there was no reference to drowning.

His death was classified as a homicide and, according to courtroom documents, he died from asphyxiation and blunt force trauma.

He had numerous bruises and scars across his body, along with facial injuries. Troy's body was covered with fresh and old bruises.

Investigators also discovered blood on the drum of the washing machine and other parts of the house, according to court documents.

Thomas has been charged with capital murder and faces 50 years in prison, which is often regarded as a "virtual life sentence," ruling out the possibility of parole. Thomas' wife, Tiffany Thomas, has also been charged in the case with injury to a child by omission. She is seeking community supervision.
