PUTRAJAYA: Penang police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain will be appointed as the new Kuala Lumpur police chief.
The decision was made during the Police Force Commission (SPP) meeting on Friday (March 31).
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment was among several changes made to important posts in the police force during the SPP meeting.
"As announced previously, the post of Kuala Lumpur police chief was left vacant after Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim was appointed as the Bukit Aman Management director.
"Thus, the SPP decided for Comm Mohd Shuhaily to fill the post and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) secretariat will make the announcement soon," he said when met at Putrajaya on Saturday (April 1).
Saifuddin said a few other transfers involving state police chief posts would occur in the latest round of transfers.
"Previously, Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay was announced as the new Bukit Aman CID director.
"The new NCID director will be announced by the PDRM secretariat as well," he said.
