If you’ve worked in hospitality or retail, the chances are you’ve heard the commonly cited phrase, “the customer is always right”.

This particular phrase is a real bugbear for many people working in public facing job roles because, let’s face it, a lot of customers aren’t, in fact, always right - yet they use this phrase as justification for obnoxious behaviour. Not all customers, of course, but the vast majority of retail and hospitality workers have countless tales of entitled people demanding their way is the right way - and it’s all down to this saying.
