While Sengkang and Punggol residents are no strangers to fighter jets regularly roaring past their flats, a unique aerial sight recently appeared over Tengah.

Xiaohongshu user @YHY posted a video of an airplane being escorted by five fighter jets on Monday (May 26).

Filmed from inside a vehicle, the scene appeared quieter than the thunderous flybys typically experienced in the northeast.

However, one netizen commented that he was still disturbed by the noise.

Many speculated that the formation was part of a military exercise, while others questioned if it was part of a rehearsal for Singapore’s National Day Parade (NDP)

A quick check on the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Instagram page confirmed that a rehearsal was indeed planned for May 26 and assured the public there was no cause for concern.

The next rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday (May 29).

Singapore will celebrate its 60th birthday on August 9 this year and we can only anticipate how spectacular this year’s NDP will be.
