SEREMBAN: Police have confirmed the death of a male detainee at the Seremban police station lockup on Friday (Aug 29).
Negeri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said that they received notification of the 46-year-old man's death at 6.30pm after other detainees found him unconscious.
The man was arrested two days earlier under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle theft. He was reportedly healthy when taken to the magistrate for remand, with no complaints made to the magistrate or the National Legal Aid Foundation.
"The medical team confirmed his death at the scene. The police have also informed his family members and initiated an investigation immediately," he stated in a statement on Saturday (Aug 30), adding that autopsy results revealed no external or internal injuries to the victim.
He mentioned that the police are still awaiting the full report from the hospital to determine the true cause of death.
