SHAH ALAM: Police have opened an investigation paper into a commotion that broke out during Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) annual general assembly at the IDCC Hall in Section 15 here yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police received a report at 12.18am from the party's chief of security over the incident.

He said the disturbance occurred while the party president was delivering his speech, when two men believed to be members of the party suddenly stood up and started shouting, disrupting the address.

"The complainant, who was on duty, tried to calm the situation by approaching one of the men, but he was pulled from behind and fell, sparking a commotion in the hall.

The case is being investigated for committing an affray, which carries a jail term of up to six months or a maximum fine of RM1,000 upon conviction.

It is also being probed for indecent behaviour, punishable with a fine not exceeding RM100.

He urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward and assist in investigations by contacting Assistant Superintendent Mohd Afandi Ahmad at 016-7252948.
